From the recording With a little help from my friends
As part of her house concert series, Ann wrote this song for her friend, Sue. Sue wanted to acknowledge that she and her children were right on track, living their purposes, even though things looked different than she had expected.
Lyrics
Cliff’s walking his talk
He’s following his heart
He say’s my passion is what I do
Not my work
He’s right on track
He’s not looking back
He’s right on purpose
Megan’s taken on a lot
When she was a tot
She said I feel like an old soul
She’s doing inner work
She’s right on track
She’s not looking back
She’s right on purpose.
I pictured different lives for them
But they have their own journeys
It’s my job to let go
There’s many children I reach
By teaching those who teach
I’m changing the system from the inside
I help them do their work
I’m right on track
I’m not looking back
I’m right on purpose
I have a sister and brother
We actually like each other
I wonder how we all turned out so good
It wasn’t easy work
I pictured different lives for us
But we have our journeys
It’s my job to let go
`Cuz we’re right on track
We’re not looking back
We’re right on purpose
(Even if it doesn’t look so good)
We’re right on track
We’re not looking back
We’re right on purpose
(Even when it looks like a
big miss)
We’re right on track
We’re not looking back
We’re right on purpose
